Meet Christine
People often ask me why I’m running for City Council. The answer is simple.
I believe the best local government begins by listening.
When my husband and I chose to make Rockland our home in 2019, we found more than a place to live. We found a welcoming community where neighbours support one another, local businesses matter, and people genuinely care about the future of Clarence-Rockland.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of becoming involved in our community through volunteer work and by serving as Vice-Chair of the City’s Accessibility Advisory Committee. Those experiences have given me the opportunity to listen to residents, better understand the issues that matter most to them, and work collaboratively to improve accessibility and inclusion for everyone.
As our community continues to grow, we have an opportunity, and a responsibility, to shape that growth thoughtfully. We can welcome new families, support local businesses, protect our natural environment, and preserve the welcoming character that makes Ward 1 such a wonderful place to call home.
I’m running because I believe residents deserve a representative who is approachable, prepared, and committed to listening before making decisions.
I don’t believe one person has all the answers. I believe the best solutions come from working together, respecting different perspectives, and making decisions that reflect the needs and priorities of our community.
It would be an honour to serve the residents of Ward 1 and to work with you to help build a community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Their words mean so much to me because they come from people who have known me over time, have seen me in action, and can speak sincerely about my character, values and commitment.

I’m so unbelievably proud of my sister Christine for throwing her hat in the political ring. She’s overqualified for the job, if simply for the strength of character she brings. ❤️

To the Residents of Ward 1, Clarence-Rockland:
I have had the pleasure of working with Christine through her involvement with the Ontario College of Homeopathic Medicine, and what has always stood out to me is how genuinely committed she is to the work she takes on.
Christine is hardworking, organized, dependable, and someone who follows through. Just as importantly, she listens. She takes the time to understand different perspectives, asks thoughtful questions, and genuinely cares about the people and communities she serves.
Christine doesn’t simply get involved—she contributes, takes responsibility, and looks for ways to make things better. I have seen firsthand the energy and dedication she brings to her commitments, and I know she would bring those same qualities to public service.

To the Residents of Ward 1, Clarence-Rockland:
I have had the privilege of knowing Christine Dawood since 2015, and over the years, I have been fortunate to know her both as family and as a close friend. She is someone I respect tremendously, and I am proud to support her candidacy for Clarence-Rockland City Council.
One of the qualities I admire most about Christine is her determination. At just 14 years old, she experienced a life-changing medical event that left her with paralysis on one side of her body, a condition known as hemiplegia. She never allowed that experience to define her or limit what she could accomplish. She went on to earn two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree and is currently completing her clinical training in homeopathic medicine.
Over the years, I have also seen Christine support the people in her life through incredibly difficult circumstances. She is compassionate and dependable, but more than anything, she is deeply committed, loyal, and caring. I have seen firsthand the lengths she will go to support the people and causes she cares about, as well as the determination she brings to every aspect of her life.
I know Christine will bring those same qualities to public service because I have witnessed them firsthand for more than a decade. Her community matters deeply to her, and she is resolute in her commitment to serving it. She will listen to the people she represents, work tirelessly on their behalf, and stand up for everyone in her community.
Christine has faced challenges in her own life that would have stopped many people, yet she has continued to move forward while remaining there for those around her. That says an immense amount about her character and the person she is.
I am proud to call Christine my sister-in-law and my friend, and I am equally proud to support her candidacy for Clarence-Rockland City Council.
